Main Technical Parameters

The ABA Three-Layer Co-Extrusion Blown Film Machine uses two extruders to produce a symmetrical A/B/A film structure. One extrusion unit supplies both outer A layers, while the second unit feeds the central B layer. This arrangement provides more formulation flexibility than a mono-layer line without requiring three independent extruders.
The surface layers can be designed for appearance, sealing, printing or product-contact requirements, while the core layer may be adjusted for stiffness, strength, opacity or material-cost control. Suitable formulations depend on the screw design, die channels and resin properties. Reprocessed material or mineral-filled compounds may be considered for the B layer in certain non-food applications, but their use must be evaluated against the required film quality and local regulations.
The machine shown includes separate A and B material-feeding sections, a three-layer die assembly, an external cooling system, a bubble-stabilizing cage, upper haul-off rollers and a surface winding station. The elevated platform gives operators access to the collapsing and traction sections during threading and adjustment. Compared with an ABC line, the ABA arrangement is simpler because both surfaces share the same A-layer formulation. It is suitable for shopping bags, refuse sacks, liners, courier film and general flexible packaging where symmetrical outer layers are acceptable. Film width, layer ratio, output and compatible resin grades must be confirmed from the selected specification.
Product Features

ABA Blown-Film Machine
The extrusion zone, towering support towers, operating platforms, calendering section, upper haul-off unit, take-up station, and separate electrical cabinets.
Red staircases and safety railings provide access to the upper work areas. The component at the lower front is a surface winder used to wind the finished film.

Drive Rollers
These rollers guide and drive the folded film by maintaining contact and tension as the film is conveyed to the winding section.
The rubber surface provides grip, while the polished metal rollers ensure a smooth film path. Pneumatic or mechanical opening and closing mechanisms can assist with film threading and clamping force adjustment, but the control method has yet to be determined.

Bubble Stabilization Frame
This circular frame surrounds the rising tubular film and is equipped with multiple adjustable guide rollers. These rollers support the bubbles from different directions to minimize their lateral movement before the film enters the shrink frame.
The position of the frame and the roller gaps can typically be adjusted to accommodate bubbles of different diameters. Its purpose is to stabilize the film, not to compress it.

FAQ
Q: 1. How can two extruders produce three film layers?
A: The A extruder supplies two separate outer flow channels, while the B extruder feeds the middle channel. The three melt streams meet inside the co-extrusion die and leave as an A/B/A tubular film.
Q: 2. What is the main benefit of the ABA structure?
A: ABA technology separates the surface requirements from the core formulation. It allows both film surfaces to remain consistent while the middle layer is adjusted for mechanical properties, opacity or material-cost objectives.
Q: 3. Are the two A layers always identical?
A: They normally originate from the same extruder and therefore use the same melt formulation. Their individual thicknesses may depend on the die design, but ABA does not provide the fully independent outer surfaces available from an ABC system.
Q: 4. Can ABA film be used for food packaging?
A: It can be considered only when every relevant resin, additive and processing condition meets the applicable food-contact requirements.
Q: 5. Which materials are suitable for the A layers?
A: Appropriate PE grades or blends may be selected according to sealing, printing, surface finish and strength requirements.
